Kitchen renovation in Sant Quirze del Vallès carried out by Solera Reformas

Kitchen renovation in Sant Quirze del Vallès

Changing just the unit doors and worktop, renewing the kitchen with the same layout or redesigning it with an island and opening it onto the living room. We visit you at no cost, give you a fixed price with a schedule for the work and our own team carries it out.

A kitchen renovation in Sant Quirze del Vallès costs €2,500 to €6,000 if you change units, worktop or appliances without touching the plumbing or wiring, €8,000 to €15,000 if you also renew the plumbing and electrics, and from €15,000 if the whole kitchen is redesigned. The work on site takes 3 to 20 days; the rest of the timescale is making the units. If no walls are moved, the permit is a prior notification, and ICIO tax is 4%.

Detached houses, terraced houses and flats: how the kitchen changes in Sant Quirze

Much of Sant Quirze is made up of detached and low-rise houses, and many flats and family homes were added at the end of the 20th century. Each type of home calls for a different kitchen renovation in Sant Quirze del Vallès:

  • A detached house with a garden: the kitchen often opens onto the terrace or garden. If the new floor continues in the same tone outside, the house looks bigger.
  • A terraced or semi-detached house: long kitchens where a galley layout or a peninsula separating it from the dining room works well.
  • A flat from the 80s or 90s: a closed kitchen with a utility gallery or laundry area next to it. Joining them gains space, but if the façade is affected the paperwork changes.
  • Les Fonts: the neighbourhood is split between Sant Quirze and Terrassa, so the permit goes to the council your street belongs to.
  • Estates such as Mas Duran or Can Casablanques: spacious houses with room for a kitchen with island layout and a breakfast area.

Three ways to approach a kitchen renovation in Sant Quirze

Not every kitchen needs building work. Depending on what you want to change, one of these three will fit.

Kitchen refresh with no building work

New unit doors, worktop, appliances, under-cabinet lighting and paint or vinyl on the walls. No pipes or cables are touched. It's the way to get a new-look kitchen in 3 to 5 days.

New kitchen in the same place

Everything new inside (units, pipes and wiring), but with the sink, hob and fridge where they already were. 6 to 10 working days on site.

Full kitchen renovation

Designed from scratch: a different layout, an island or peninsula, opening onto the living room, new plumbing and wiring, floor and walls. A full kitchen renovation takes 10 to 20 working days on site.

Kitchen renovation cost: prices and quotes

These are the ranges for an average-sized kitchen. In a kitchen renovation in Sant Quirze del Vallès, what affects the price most is the length of the units, the worktop material and the range of appliances.

OptionFrom – toWork in your homeFrom visit to handover
Kitchen refresh (doors, worktop, appliances)€2,500 – €6,0003–5 working days2–4 weeks
New kitchen with renewed plumbing and wiring, everything in place€8,000 – €15,0006–10 working days4–6 weeks
Full kitchen renovation, with a new layout€15,000 – €25,00010–20 working days6–8 weeks

In large kitchens or with high-end materials, a full renovation can exceed €25,000 and reach €45,000.

What makes a kitchen more expensive

An island with a sink or hob (water, waste and power have to run under the floor), an engineered stone worktop, integrated appliances and knocking down a wall. We advise leaving a 10–15% margin for whatever turns up when things are taken apart.

The quote: fixed and with a schedule

After the visit, which is free, you receive the fixed price in writing with every item listed separately and the dates of each stage. If you like, you can also pay in instalments.

Item by item: what goes into a full kitchen renovation

To compare one kitchen renovation cost breakdown with another on the same basis, these are the items we include and what each one covers:

ItemWhat it includes
Removal and protectionRemoving old units, worktop and appliances; protecting the rest of the house
Rubble removalLoading, transport and disposal of the old kitchen
PlumbingNew connections for the sink and dishwasher and, if there is an island, pipe runs under the floor
ElectricsCircuit for the hob and oven, sockets above the worktop, general and under-cabinet lighting
ExtractionExtraction duct or recirculating cooker hood

UnitsManufacture, delivery and fitting
WorktopMade-to-measure template, cutting, openings for the hob and sink, and fitting

CleaningKitchen clean and ready to use from the last day of work

You'll find the details of each stage in our guide on how long it takes to renovate a kitchen.

Kitchen with island: what it needs

A kitchen with island layout is the most common request in the houses of Sant Quirze. To make it work, five things need sorting out before the units are ordered:

  • Walkway: you need 90 to 120 cm between the island and the wall units to open the dishwasher and pass each other without bumping.
  • Island depth: if it has a hob or sink, 90 cm or more is best; if it's only for preparing food and breakfast, less is enough.
  • Water and waste: a sink in the island means running pipes under the floor, so it has to be decided before the flooring goes down.
  • Extraction: with the hob on the island, the hood hangs from the ceiling or you use a hob with a built-in extractor.
  • Sockets and lighting: sockets on one side of the island and pendant lights above it, with the light point planned in the ceiling.

If there isn't room for a kitchen with island layout, a peninsula attached to one run of units offers almost the same. For narrow kitchens, see how to make the most of them in our guide to renovating small kitchens.

Unit doors, handles and worktops: how to choose

The parts of a kitchen you touch and see most are the unit doors and the worktop. If you go for a kitchen refresh, changing them is what transforms it most. These are the most popular options today and what's worth knowing about each one:

  • Laminate doors: hard-wearing and available in lots of finishes, including wood effects. They offer the best value for money.
  • Lacquered doors: a smooth surface and even colour; matt finishes hide fingerprints better than gloss.
  • Anti-fingerprint doors: new-generation matt finishes that don't show fingerprints and resist scuffs and moderate heat.
  • Handleless: with a recessed rail (a channel built into the unit) or push-to-open on tall units. It gives the kitchen a cleaner look.
  • Quartz worktop: highly stain-resistant and easy to maintain.
  • Sintered stone or porcelain worktop: withstands heat and scratches, and lets you use the same material on the splashback up to the window.

If yours is an older kitchen and you'd like to know what to keep, see our guide to renovating an old kitchen.

How we carry out your kitchen renovation

  1. Home visit

We take measurements, look at the plumbing and wiring, and you tell us how you use the kitchen and what you have too much or too little of.

  2. Plans of the new kitchen

We draw where each unit goes, the type of worktop, the appliances and the light points, so you can decide while seeing it.

  3. Written quote

a fixed price by item and the dates of each stage.

  4. Ordering the units

While they're being made, we get everything ready so the kitchen is out of action for as short a time as possible.

  5. Work by our own team, supervised by a technical architect

We protect the house and tidy up at the end of each day.

  6. Final fitting

The worktop goes in, the appliances are connected and we check drawers, doors and lights together before giving you the guarantee.

Building permit and ICIO tax in Sant Quirze for your kitchen

To change units, worktop and services without moving any walls, Sant Quirze del Vallès Town Council requires a prior notification of works (comunicació prèvia d'obres). Knocking down a load-bearing wall or altering the façade requires a licence and a technical project.

What you're doingPermitIs a technician needed?
New doors, units, worktop or appliances; tiling, paint or flooringPrior notification of worksNo
Changing water points, wiring or the gas installation, without touching wallsPrior notification of worksNo; gas work is certified by an authorised installer
Removing the wall between kitchen and living room (non-structural)Depends on the work: prior notification or licenceDepends on the work
Joining the utility gallery or laundry area to the kitchen by altering the façadeLicence, with the residents' community's approvalYes
Opening, moving or removing a load-bearing wallWorks licenceYes, signed by a technician

4% ICIO tax on the cost of the work

Sant Quirze applies 4% to the cost of the work, excluding VAT. For a €12,000 kitchen, the tax is €480. The rate is set in Sant Quirze del Vallès tax ordinance 2.5, published in the Barcelona Provincial Gazette (BOP) on 23 December 2025.

Kitchens in Les Fonts

If the home is in Les Fonts, we first check whether the street belongs to Sant Quirze or Terrassa: the paperwork and the tax are submitted in that town.

For every kitchen renovation in Sant Quirze del Vallès, we handle the permit.

Before we draw your kitchen, we check this

Some details change the design and the budget, so we look at them on the first visit:

  • What's behind the wall you want to remove: whether it's load-bearing or carries services.
  • Your contracted electrical power, if the hob will be induction or you're adding an oven and microwave.
  • Where the cooker hood's extraction can go out.
  • Whether the current floor continues under the units or new flooring is needed throughout the kitchen.
  • The height of the window, which sets how high the splashback can go and where the sink goes.
  • The appliances you're keeping and their exact measurements, so they fit the new units.
  • If you want a kitchen with island layout, the real walkway left on each side.
  • Where the washing machine and dryer will go if you join the gallery to the kitchen.
  • In a flat: the building's shared extraction duct and the community's working hours.

Frequently asked questions about kitchen renovation in Sant Quirze del Vallès

Can't find the answer you're looking for? Tell us about your project and we'll help.

How much does a kitchen renovation in Sant Quirze del Vallès cost?

€2,500 to €6,000 if the plumbing and wiring aren't touched, €8,000 to €15,000 if units and services are renewed with the same layout, and from €15,000 for a full renovation. These are ranges for an average kitchen; after the visit we give you the exact price.

How long does a full kitchen renovation take?

A full kitchen renovation takes 10 to 20 working days on site and 6 to 8 weeks including making the units. If no building work is involved, 3 to 5 days in your home.

What can you change in a kitchen refresh?

In a kitchen refresh you change unit doors or units, worktop, appliances, lighting and the wall finish with paint or vinyl. If no water or electrical points are moved, no building work is needed.

Do I need a permit to renovate my kitchen?

Yes, but if you don't touch walls or the façade, a prior notification of works is enough. For a load-bearing wall or for joining the gallery by altering the façade, you need a licence. We handle the paperwork.

My house is in Les Fonts. Where do I apply for the permit?

At the council your street belongs to, because the neighbourhood is split between Sant Quirze and Terrassa. We check before submitting anything.

What tax do you pay on the work in Sant Quirze?

4% of the cost of the work, excluding VAT. For a €12,000 kitchen, that's €480.

Is there room for a kitchen with island layout in my home?

If there's at least 90 cm of walkway between the island and the wall units, yes. With less space, a peninsula is usually a better solution.

Can I join the gallery to the kitchen?

In many flats, yes, and you gain space. If the façade or the enclosure has to be altered, you need a licence and the residents' community's approval, and you'll need to find a place for the washing machine.

Silestone, Dekton or porcelain?

They're three types of worktop: Silestone is quartz and very stain-resistant; Dekton is sintered stone; and porcelain is large-format ceramic. The last two withstand heat and scratches better. The choice depends on how you use the kitchen and your budget.

Can I keep my current floor?

If it's in good condition and the new units go in the same place, yes. If you change the layout, marks from the old units will show and it's best to lay a new floor.

Is there a charge for a kitchen renovation cost estimate?

No. The visit and the quote are free with no obligation: we give it to you in writing and you decide in your own time.

What does the quote include?

Removal, rubble, plumbing, electrics, extraction, walls and floor, units, worktop, fitting the appliances and a final clean. We tell you which materials are included and which ones you choose.

Can I reuse my appliances?

Yes, if they're in good condition and their measurements fit the new units. We remove them carefully and reconnect them at the end. If any are freestanding and you'd like them integrated, we'll tell you during the visit.

Can I see the kitchen before approving the quote?

Yes: before signing, you go through the plans with us, with every unit and every finish in place. [VERIFICAR: whether a 3D render is also provided]

Does the renovation come with a guarantee?

Yes, with after-sales service. If anything in the fitting or the services fails after handover, the same team checks it and puts it right.

Do you work on my estate?

Yes, all over the town: from the village centre to Les Fonts, Mas Duran, Can Casablanques or Sant Quirze Parc.
